Powerflow Motorcycle Exhausts: 5 -Year Warranty & Care Information
Thank you for choosing Powerflow Motorcycle Exhausts (PME). We are committed to providing high-quality products that enhance your riding experience for many years. To ensure that you get the best performance and longevity from your exhaust system, please take a moment to review the warranty details and care instructions below.
1. 5 -Year Limited Warranty
At Powerflow Motorcycle Exhaust, we offer a 5-year guarantee on all motorcycle exhaust systems, effective from the date of purchase. This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and does not apply if the exhaust system is used in motorsports, competitive racing, or off-road conditions. In these cases, the warranty becomes null and void.
The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship but does not include the cosmetic finish, mild steel components (such as flanges, bolts, and brackets), or any damage caused by external factors, such as accidents or improper use.
2. Material and Finish Care
Our exhaust systems are meticulously hand-fabricated using 304-grade stainless steel. As stainless steel is naturally prone to discoloration due to heat, you may notice a golden or straw-colored hue on the hottest parts of the system. Over time, this can develop into a brown “scale” which, while primarily cosmetic, can be challenging to remove.
Care Recommendations:
- Polishing: To maintain the appearance of your exhaust, we recommend regular polishing with a high-quality, mildly abrasive metal polish, such as Autosol Marine Shine.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaning Tools: Never use abrasive materials like steel wool, brass, or plastic scourers, as these will dull the finish.
- Refinishing Service: While the polished finish is not guaranteed, a refinishing service is available at nominal rates.
3. Warranty Conditions & Exclusions
To activate the warranty, you must retain the original purchase invoice. The warranty covers:
- Perforation by corrosion
- Defective workmanship
It does not cover:
- Cosmetic damage (finish, discoloration)
- Mild steel components (e.g., flanges, bolts)
- Labour costs for removal or re-fitting of parts
- Transport costs for returning parts to the factory
In the event of a valid claim, Powerflow Motorcycle Exhausts will cover the cost of returning the repaired or replaced item to you.
4. Impact, Incorrect Fitment, and Accidental Damage
The warranty does not cover fractures, breakages, or other damage caused by incorrect installation, impact, or accidents. In such cases, a repair or remanufacturing service may be offered at nominal rates, if the damage is repairable.
5. Non-Transferable Warranty
Please note that the 5-year warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original purchaser. The terms and conditions cannot be altered or negotiated.
6. Inspection & Return Process
Any claims for defective goods must be returned to Powerflow Motorcycles Exhausts for inspection by factory staff. We will not credit or replace items unless they are physically inspected at our facility. Powerflow Motorcycle Exhausts retains the right to decide whether a defective item will be repaired or replaced.
7. Incorrect Fitment Procedures
If you experience any issues with the fitment of your exhaust system, please consult Powerflow Motorcycle Exhausts, before proceeding with any alterations or modifications. If the system is modified or repaired by the customer or a third party without our consultation, the warranty will not cover any associated costs.
8. Exhaust Performance & Engine Considerations
Due to the free-flow nature of Powerflow Motorcycle exhaust systems, your engine may run leaner (weaker fuel mixture), which can lead to higher temperatures and potential damage to exhaust valves and valve seats over time. To prevent overheating and unnecessary wear, we highly recommend:
- CO² level checks by a reputable dealer.
- Dyno testing under load to adjust the fuel mixture as necessary.
Excessively lean engine conditions are a leading cause of both engine damage and discolouration of the exhaust system.
